Texas is where our reviewer programme is deepest, and it gives the clearest answer anywhere to a question players ask constantly: will this site make me upload my ID? Between May and September 2026, our Texas testers logged 382 tests across 67 sweepstakes casinos and recorded every identity check they met. In total, 120 tests involved one, just under a third. The operator mattered enormously, from about one test in seven at McLuck to nearly nine in ten at High5Casino. And the Texas data shows something players rarely expect: the sites that checked ID first were often the ones that paid fastest.

The pattern: verify early, get paid sooner

Look at the top three rows. High5Casino, Rebet and Chip'N Win checked ID in two-thirds or more of their Texas tests, usually before a tester could buy coins. Between them they recorded 43 timed payouts, and 35 of those, about four in five, arrived within two days.

Now look at the light-touch operators. McLuck and Jackpota rarely asked for ID during play, and they are two of the best-rated sites in Texas. But when testers redeemed, the check arrived then, and their payouts were slower: 18 of 43 within two days across the pair.

The likely explanation is simple. Every sweepstakes casino verifies you before it pays a prize. If the check happens at signup, it is already done when you win. If it happens at redemption, it sits between you and your money.

Which is better for you

Neither approach is wrong, and the right one depends on how you play:

  • You want to try a site before handing over documents: choose a light-touch operator such as McLuck, Pulsz or Splash Coins, and expect a wait when you first redeem.
  • You expect to redeem soon: an up-front check, as at High5Casino or Rebet, gets the paperwork out of the way and our Texas data says payouts follow quickly.

What Texas testers were asked for

  • Photo ID and a selfie. Chip'N Win uses a SumSub check with a licence photo and face scan at the point of purchase.
  • A full Social Security number. Rebet asks for the full number, not the last four digits.
  • Accepted documents vary. One Texas tester found Rebet rejected a standard passport but accepted a passport card. A Florida tester found High5Casino rejected a passport where a licence worked.
  • Retries are common. Several testers needed two or three attempts to get an ID photo accepted.

Reading the numbers

An ID check in this table means a tester was asked to verify during their session, before or while playing. A low share does not mean an operator never checks. It usually means our testers had not yet redeemed when their session ended, so the check was still ahead of them.

Frequently asked questions

Do sweepstakes casinos require ID in Texas?

All of them do before paying a prize. In our Texas tests, about a third of sessions involved an ID check before that point.

Which sweepstakes casino asks for ID least in Texas?

Among operators with enough tests, Splash Coins checked in 8% of Texas tests, and McLuck and Pulsz in about 15%.

Does verifying early make payouts faster?

In our Texas data, yes. The three operators that verified most often paid about four in five timed redemptions within two days.
