Texas has exactly three casino floors, and they sit far apart: Eagle Pass on the Rio Grande, the countryside near Livingston north of Houston, and the eastern side of El Paso. Add up the machines at the two venues that publish a count and you get more than 4,100. Not one of them is a conventional slot machine. Every game on every Texas floor settles its result through a bingo draw, shown as a small card on screen while the reels spin on top. To most players it feels identical. It is still worth knowing before you plan a weekend around a casino in Texas.
Why the state has so few
The short answer sits in state law. Texas prohibits commercial casinos, online casinos and sports betting, and it has no lottery-run casinos and no tribal casino offering full casino gaming. Several sports betting bills have been filed in the Texas Legislature, and none has passed. What remains is three tribal venues running bingo-based electronic games, which is why the in-person map is so thin for a state of this size.
Kickapoo Lucky Eagle: the big one, and the only cards
Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino Hotel is the largest of the three by a long way. The Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas opened it in 1996, and the floor now covers about 200,000 square feet with more than 3,300 ticket-in, ticket-out machines.
Its real distinction is a twelve-table poker room running live games daily, plus Hold'em tournaments. It is the only casino poker room in the state, so anyone in Texas who wants a dealt game inside a casino has one destination. Live bingo runs Wednesday to Sunday, with pull tabs alongside.
It is also the only one of the three where you can stay the night: 249 rooms and suites, an RV park, four restaurants, four quick-service counters and three bars. The tribe broke ground on an expansion with a new hotel tower in July 2026, so expect building work nearby. Eagle Pass is roughly two and a half hours from San Antonio.
Naskila: the Houston day trip
Naskila Casino belongs to the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas and sits about 15 minutes east of Livingston, a little over an hour north of Houston. It opened in May 2016. The floor runs to 30,000-plus square feet with more than 800 electronic games, from penny play up to $25 denominations.
There are no live tables and no poker, and no hotel. What it does offer is a floor and a kitchen that never close: Timbers Grille, the full-service restaurant, serves around the clock, and Café Itto Si covers quicker meals. Naskila is also the only Texas venue that states its age rule outright: you must be 21 to enter, and staff check at the door.
Speaking Rock: come for the stage
Speaking Rock Entertainment Center is the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo's venue in the Mission Valley, on El Paso's east side. Its floor is electronic bingo, with a video game room and a bar beside it. Most visitors, though, come for the free live music calendar: tribute acts, regional Mexican and mariachi nights, DJ sets and touring bands, with no ticket to buy. Check the schedule first, because a show night and a quiet weeknight feel like two different venues. There is no hotel on site.
Which Texas casino suits which trip
| Venue | Where | Machines | Live games | Hotel | Google rating |
| Kickapoo Lucky Eagle | Eagle Pass | 3,300+ | 12-table poker room, live bingo | 249 rooms, RV park | 4.3 (10,000+ reviews) |
| Naskila | Near Livingston | 800+ | None | None | 4.2 (12,000+ reviews) |
| Speaking Rock | El Paso | Not published | None; free concerts | None | 4.3 (8,000+ reviews) |
For poker or an overnight stay, Eagle Pass is the only option. For a quick evening out of Houston, Naskila is the practical pick. Speaking Rock is the choice for a night of music with some gaming on the side. All three are open 24 hours, seven days a week. Kickapoo Lucky Eagle and Speaking Rock do not publish a minimum age, so bring ID and confirm with the venue before you travel with anyone under 21.
Playing from home instead
If none of the three is within driving range, the online option in Texas is the sweepstakes casino. These sites run on a no-purchase-necessary promotional model with a mandatory free entry route, and Sweeps Coins can be redeemed for cash prizes, typically at 1 SC to $1. Players must be 18, and some platforms set the bar at 21. Our Texas sweepstakes rankings compare the sites our testers have used, and our guide to Texas sweepstakes law covers the background.
